Police seek man after act of indecency in Bankstown

Police are seeking assistance from the public to identity a man following the indecent assault of a child at Bankstown in earlier this year, NSW Police say.

About 2.45pm on Thursday 19 May 2016, a five-year-old boy was with his aunt when they walked to the northern end of the bus exchange at a shopping centre on North Terrace, Bankstown.

Police have been told a man called out to the child and motioned for him to come to where he was seated. He then reportedly touched the child inappropriately.

The boy’s aunt witnessed the incident and they immediately left the area and reported the matter to security. The incident was then referred to police from Bankstown Local Area Command.

The man has been described as being of Indian Sub Continental appearance, aged 45 to 50 with brown eyes and untidy medium-length black hair and a black moustache.

He is reported to have a mole or wart on his right cheek, and moles on his forehead and around his chin. He has a stocky build with large belly and large flat nose.

At the time of the incident the man was wearing a beige polo shirt with thick and thin horizontal brown stripes, black pants and sandals.

If anyone has any information that could assist with the identity of this man please contact police at Bankstown Local Area Command, or Crime Stopers.
