Police seek sightings of suspicious activity after fire at Cornelian Bay

Police would like to speak to any members of the public who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area of Queens Walk at Cornelian Bay around 1.15pm today.

At that time a fire was reported to emergency services and the Tasmania Fire Service attended and extinguished the fire. Minor damage was caused to a small area of vegetation.

Tasmania Police attended and an investigation has been commenced.

While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, authorities would like to remind people that during a total fire ban, especially when the fire danger rating is extreme, it is not only illegal but dangerous to have a lit flame out in the open, including cigarette lighters. Fires on days like today can spread quickly and put people and homes in danger.

Anyone who witnesses suspicious or dangerous activity is urged to contact police.
