Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed following an altercation in Dandenong in April.
Officers were called to reports of a man taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing about 11.30pm on 2 April.
Officers were told that the incident occurred on Thomas Street a short time before they were called.
A 28-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The offender fled the scene shortly after the incident.
Detectives believe up to 10 males were involved in the altercation, who were perceived to be Middle Eastern or Mediterranean in appearance, between 18 and 20-years-old.
The main offender has been described as having dark hair, a beard, and approximately 20-years-old and wearing Nike t-shirt and blue jacket.
Investigators have released an image and CCTV and images of a man they believe might be able to assist with their enquiries.
Additionally, investigators are also keen to speak with persons who were in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the altercation.
