Police seek witnesses after South Melbourne crash

Prahran Highway Patrol officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a single vehicle crash in South Melbourne tonight.

It is believed a 2002 white Ford transit van was travelling north along Kings Way, near the Albert Road intersection, about 6.15pm when the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a man who is yet to be formally identified, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be removed by emergency services.

He was later transported to hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

Investigators are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the incident, witnessed the crash or with dashcam footage from the scene.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
