Detectives from Mansfield Highway Patrol are seeking assistance from the community as they investigate a series of incidents in the Bonnie Doon and Mansfield areas.
The incidents involved a stolen Black Audi A3 sedan, which was seen driving erratically on the Maroondah Hwy in the Bonnie Doon area and the High Street, Mansfield area on Sunday 22 August between 3.20pm and 3.30pm.
The vehicle was witnessed exceeding the speed limit, estimated to be travelling in excess of 200km/h at times, as well as driving across double white lines towards oncoming traffic
Nobody was injured, and the vehicle was found crashed into a tree in bushland in Acherton the following day.
Investigators would like anyone who witnessed the vehicle or who has dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
