Police seek witnesses to Preston prang

Northcote Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-car crash in Preston last week.

Police allege a Nissan Pulsar was travelling west on Gower Street when it went through a red light and struck a Toyota Kluger at the intersection of Albert Street just before 8.25pm on 17 April.

The Nissan continued through the intersection before striking a pole.

The driver of the Nissan, a 26-year-old St Kilda East man, fled the scene on foot before being apprehended by police.

He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

A 31-year-old Reservoir man who was the sole occupant of the Toyota was not seriously hurt.

Investigators believe a number of people were in the area at the time and would have witnessed the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam footage of the incident or the Nissan prior to the crash is urged to contact or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
