Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery in Reservoir last night where a chainsaw was produced and a vehicle was stolen, Victoria Police say.
Investigators have been told three men were seated inside a black BMW sedan when a Kia sedan pulled up behind them, blocking the BMW.
Two men got out of the Kia and approached the men inside the BMW, making threats before one of them produced a chainsaw and caused a small cut to the 29-year-old Dallas man who was seated inside the car.
The chainsaw was not operating at the time.
The pair continued to make demands for cash before the trio ran into the shop.
The second offender then approached the three victims inside the store and produced a firearm before one of the men handed over cash, a mobile phone and keys to the BMW sedan.
The pair then fled in the BMW X5, registration 1DL 2II on Carson Street.
The car was later sighted at a convenience store on the Western Ring Road, Ardeer about 7.30pm.
Darebin Crime Investigation Unit detectives believe the same men may be involved in an incident this morning inbound on the Westgate Freeway, Brooklyn, just west of Millers Road about 6.50am.
The BMW was seen being driven erratically and at a fast rate of speed in the emergency lane.
One of the occupants allegedly pointed what is believed to be a handgun at the driver of another vehicle on the freeway.
No one was injured.
The first man is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, solid with a short black beard.
He was wearing a grey jumper, black shorts and had a black satchel over his shoulder.
The second man was described to be in his 30s, of medium build with blonde hair and a fair complexion.
