Melbourne Tasking Unit officers are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following the theft of a motorcycle from Southbank earlier this month.
The incident happened on Clarke Street when a man approached the parked bike, forced the ignition and rode away on 12 May just before 5.30am.
The bike was located later that afternoon in the foyer of a building on Racecourse Road in Flemington.
Investigators have released an image of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be Caucasian with short dark hair and aged between 30-40 years.
He was wearing a black hooded jumper, brown shoes and carrying a distinctive red and blue motorcycle helmet.
Anyone who recognises the man or has any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppervic.com.au.
