Police shootingin Brisbane

A man has been shot by police this morning after officers were called to a disturbance following reports a man armed with a knife had stabbed another man in Brisbane city.

Preliminary information indicates police received reports at around 10am that the man had stabbed another man in Mary Street.

It will be alleged the man charged at officers and was critically injured when police returned fire.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 26-year-old man has been transported to hospital with facial and back injuries.

This matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command on behalf of the State Coroner. That investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Police are appealing for anyone with any information which could assist with the investigation to contact or come forward.
