Police Treating Fire As Suspicious, Tannum Sands

Police are investigating a suspicious fire at a tobacconist at Tannum Sands in the early hours of this morning, June 13.

Around 3am, two men attempted to gain entry to the front of the premises by smashing the front door with a hammer, with one deliberately starting a fire inside the Hampton Road business before fleeing the scene towards Garnet Road on foot.

Initial information indicates that no other items were taken, but the business sustained damage as a result of the fire.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity or may have relevant dashcam/vision in the area at the time is asked to contact police.
