Police treating house fire as suspicious - Lavington

Police are investigating following a suspicious house fire in state's south overnight.

About 6.35pm yesterday (Thursday 18 February 2021), emergency services were called to Sutherland Street, Lavington, following reports a house was well alight.

Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze, however the property suffered extensive damage.

No one was home at the time, and the property was believed to be vacant.

Officers from Murray River Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by forensic police.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed suspicious activity to come forward.
