Police Update 1: Fatal Traffic Crash, Shorncliffe

Police have charged, a 17-year-old male following a fatal traffic crash at Shorncliffe last night, 17 April.

It will be alleged about 8.35pm, a black Ford Focus was seen driving in a carpark on Sinbad Street before striking a 38-year-old Sandgate man.

It will be further alleged the vehicle continued across the road and drove through a fence before coming to a stop nearby.

The driver allegedly exited the vehicle and requested nearby residents to call triple-0. The driver then spoke to police upon their arrival.

A 38-year-old man was declared deceased at the scene.

The 17-year-old has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

He is expected to appear in Brisbane Childerns Court today, 18 April.

Investigations are ongoing.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and observed the black Ford Focus to contact police.
