Police update 1: Serious injury traffic incident at Blackwater

Blackwater detectives have charged a 43-year-old man following a traffic incident at Blackwater on September 18 that left a pedestrian in a coma.

Police were called to Turpentine Road at approximately 2.15am, followings repots a 48-year-old Woodford man had been struck by a vehicle which allegedly failed to remain at the scene.

The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Blackwater Hospital before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

As a result of investigations, a 43-year-old Blackwater man was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance.

He is expected to re-appear before the Blackwater Magistrates Court on October 14.

Police appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
