Police update 2: Acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm at Gympie

A man who sustained serious stab wounds following an altercation in Gympie on September 1 has died in hospital.

The alleged altercation occurred at the intersection of the Gympie Highway and Monkland Street at about 2:45pm.

A 31-year-old Amarmoor man was transported to hospital, where he passed away yesterday.

A 26-year-old man was charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in public.

It is expected that charges against the man will be upgraded.

He is next due to appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on November 11.
