Police update 2: Appeal: GBH charge at Toowoomba

Toowoomba detectives are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate the alleged grievous bodily harm of a man in Toowoomba on Monday (February 6).

It will be alleged a 75-year-old North Toowoomba man was waiting at a taxi-rank on Margaret Street at approximately 5pm when he was pushed from behind by a man, causing him to fall to the ground before his backpack was stolen.

The man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he remains in a critical condition.

Investigators are appealing for residents in the Toowoomba CBD to be on the lookout for a distinctive blue backpack (pictured) which is believed to have been discarded nearby shortly after the incident.

Officers are also asking any person who saw a white Hyundai Tucson in the Darling Downs region yesterday (February 6) between 5pm and 8.30pm to contact them.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV or dash-cam footage is also urged to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
