Police Update 2: Homicide Investigation At Beenleigh

Police have charged a man with murder following investigations into the shooting death of a man at Beenleigh on Tuesday 2 December.

It will be alleged that around 10.40pm, a 35-year-old Bahrs Scrub man received a gunshot wound to his chest at Hugh Muntz Park.

He was declared deceased at the scene shortly after.

Around 2.15am, police arrested a 22-year-old Beenleigh man in bushland at Hope Island.

On 4 December, the man was initially charged with four offences; one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapon (firearm), possessing explosives (ammunition) and receiving tainted property.

Following further investigations, Logan and Homicide detectives have today additionally charged the man with one count of murder.

He is scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court this afternoon, 10 December.
