Police update 2: Injury to 15-year-old boy, Bundall

A 15-year-old boy injured after allegedly falling from the back of a ute in Bundall yesterday morning has passed away as a result of his injuries.

Emergency services were called to Larne Avenue around 1am where they located the boy with a significant head injury.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment where he has since died.

Detectives have charged a 16-year-old Bundall boy who they allege was driving a ute when the 15-year-old fell from the rear tray and struck his head.

He was charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and unlicensed driving. The charge is now expected to be upgraded at the boy's court appearance.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
