Police update 2: Serious traffic crash, Macgregor

Police have charged a 24-year-old Wynnum West man in relation to a serious traffic crash at Macgregor yesterday (November 17).

At approximately midday on Kessels road, it will be alleged the man was driving a vehicle which failed to stop for police.

The vehicle allegedly continued through a red light at the intersection of Main Road and Cosmic Street, and struck a 12-year-old boy, who suffered minor head injuries.

The boy remains in a stable condition at Queensland Children's Hospital.

A 24-year-old Wynnum West man and a 19-year-old Wynnum West man were taken into custody at a Fairdale Street address in Woodridge this morning.

The 24-year-old man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a licence, unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle and fail to comply with duties of driver involved in a crash.

He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow (November 19).

The 19-year-old man who was assisting police has since been released without charge.
