Police update 3: Suspicious death, Surfers Paradise

Police have charged a 26-year-old man over the alleged murder of a 38-year-old man at Surfers Paradise on Friday, May 10.

Around 5.15pm, officers attended an address on Markwell Avenue after emergency services located a man deceased in a home.

It will be alleged that the man was assaulted and sustained significant injuries which caused his death.

Following a public appeal on Sunday May 12, police received information that lead to the arrest of a 26-year-old Surfers Paradise man at Coffs Harbour.

Yesterday (Monday, May 11), a Coffs Harbour court ordered the extradition of the 26-year-old man from New South Wales to Queensland and he was driven back to the Gold Coast by Queensland Detectives this afternoon.

A 26-year-old Surfers Paradise man has now been charged with one count of murder.

He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 15.
