Northern Territory Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to a man being shot dead in Katherine yesterday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Jakson Evans said, "The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old man and his family was notified today.
"A 36-year-old man remains in police custody while investigations are continuing. At this time, no charges have been laid.
"We appreciate there is a lot of public interest in this case and we assure the community we are doing everything we can to establish exactly how this incident transpired."
