A 90-year-old Gordonvale man has passed away this morning following a traffic crash on the Bruce Highway near Maitland Road.
Initial investigations indicate four vehicles were traveling north on the Bruce Highway at around 9.35am when one of these vehicles attempted to turn right into a private property.
As a result, two of the vehicles slowed, however an SUV following struck the back of one of them and tipped onto its side causing a truck traveling in the opposite direction to hit it.
The Bruce Highway remains closed in both directions and diversions are in place.
The 90-year-old was the sole occupant of the SUV.
Police and Emergency services attended to the drivers of the other vehicles involved and there are no physical injuries as a result of the crash.
Forensic Crash Unit are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses who may have dashcam vision to please contact them.
Police wish to thank motorists for their ongoing patience as emergency services continue to clear the scene.
