Police update: Pedestrian dies after fail to stop crash - Eastlakes

A pedestrian has died following a fail-to-stop crash at Eastlakes earlier this week.

Just before 10.30am on Wednesday (4 May 2022), emergency services were called to the intersection of Universal Street and Maloney Street, after a pedestrian was located injured on the roadway.

The 74-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in a critical condition, but he died in hospital yesterday (Thursday 5 May 2022).

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced by officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe the man may have been injured after being hit by a vehicle.

As investigations continue, police are appealing for anyone who has information or may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
