Police update: Serious crash, Carina Heights

A 20-year-old man has been charged in relation to a single vehicle traffic crash which seriously injured a man on December 3, 2022.

Emergency services were called at approximately 11.30pm to Chataway Street, where a Toyota Camry had left the roadway, crashing into a power pole and a parked car.

A 19-year-old Carina man, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered critical injuries.

Two other male passengers, aged 22 and 19, suffered minor injuries.

Following extensive investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit, a 20-year-old Carina Heights man who is alleged to be the driver of the vehicle, has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, drink driving (alleged reading of 0.193), learner driver must be supervised and drive defective vehicle.

He is expected to appear before Holland Park Magistrates Court on May 2.
