Police Update: Serious Traffic Crash Appeal, Garbutt

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash in Garbutt on 12 January.

Around 8.10pm, a blue Toyota Yaris travelling north on Meenan Street collided with a pedestrian near the intersection at Lockheed Street.

The pedestrian, a 69-year-old Garbutt woman was taken to Townsville University Hospital, where she has since died.

The driver of the Toyota, a 24-year-old Douglas man, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Investigators continue to appeal to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
