Police update: Two men charged with a string of offences after Bidwill carjacking and pursuit

Two men have now been charged following an alleged carjacking and pursuit in Sydney's west yesterday.

Police will allege about 11.15am (Monday 22 July 2019), a 22-year-old man was stopped on the side of Luxford Road, Bidwill, in a Holden Barina.

An alleged stolen Land Rover pulled over in front of the Barina and two men got out. The pair approached the vehicle and allegedly demanded the driver get out; he complied, and the two men fled the scene in the Barina.

The vehicle was tracked by PolAir and it became involved in a pursuit at Lalor Park, but was terminated due to the unsafe manner of driving.

PolAir continued to monitor the Barina before it crashed into a parked truck on Campbell Street, Northmead.

The 23-year-old driver was arrested at the scene, while the 23-year-old passenger fled the scene on foot to a nearby unit block and was arrested a short time later.

As a result of investigations by officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command, the 23-year-old alleged driver was charged at Parramatta Police Station with larceny, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception (x4), drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period – 2nd offence (x2), be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it-in company, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 24 July 2019).

The second 23-year-old man was charged at Parramatta Police Station with larceny, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception, drive conveyance taken without consent, unlicensed for Class, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, aggravated take/drive motor vehicle with person in/on it-in company, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Tuesday 23 July 2019).
