Police update: Wounding at Nambour

Detectives have charged a man following the investigation into the stabbing of a man in Nambour on Wednesday night.

It will be alleged just before 10pm, a man approached a 41-year-old man in a carpark off Coronation Avenue and demand his backpack. An altercation occurred during which the 41-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the head and upper body. The man fled with the backpack.

The 41-year-old Nambour man was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

As a result of CCTV recordings, police located and arrested a man in Maroochydore around 7pm last night.

The 18-year-old Nambour man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.

He will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
