Police update: Wounding, Blacks Beach

Detectives from Mackay Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 16-year-old male with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm after an alleged stabbing at Blacks Beach yesterday.

The juvenile has been refused bail and will appear at the Mackay Children's Court today (September 14).

Police are searching for a male after a woman sustained multiple stab wounds at a location in Blacks Beach this afternoon.

Officers were called to an area off Blacks Beach Road around 12.20pm where the 23-year-old woman was located with serious injuries.

Preliminary information suggests the woman was sunbaking at the beach when she was confronted by a male unknown to her who stabbed her multiple times in the neck and body with a knife before fleeing the scene.

The woman managed to attend a nearby construction site to seek help.

She was transported to hospital in a serious condition, however her injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
