Police update: Wounding charge at Hervey Bay

Police have charged an 18-year-old man following investigations into an alleged wounding at Pialba on Tuesday (March 7).

It will be alleged that a 16-year-old boy was riding his bike along Taylor Street at approximately 8.15pm when he was confronted by an 18-year-old man armed with a knife, before an altercation ensued.

The 16-year-old sustained a single knife wound to his arm and was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.

Following investigations by the Maryborough Child Protection and Investigation Unit, an 18-year-old was located and arrested at an address in Point Vernon last night (March 10).

He has been charged with one count each of wounding, attempted robbery – use/threaten violence whilst armed, and possession of a knife in a public place.

He has been denied police bail and is expected to appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court today (March 11).
