Police vehicle involved in collision in Patonga

A police vehicle has been involved in a collision in Patonga overnight, NSW Police say.

About 8.25pm today, a police vehicle was responding to a car on fire off Patonga Road, Patonga, when it was struck by a third vehicle.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene and treated two senior constables who had been in the police vehicle; a 40-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman. They’ve been taken to Gosford Hospital where they are reported to be in a stable condition.

The 21-year-old man driving the third vehicle was not injured. He has been taken to mandatory testing.

The car fire from the original incident was extinguished; there was no one inside that vehicle.

The Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the collision and Brisbane Water Local Area Command is investigating the vehicle fire.

Inquiries are continuing on both incidents.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
