Police woman injured after vehicle stop in Mudgee

A police woman has been injured following a vehicle stop in Mudgee this morning, NSW Police say.

Shortly after 3.30am (Sunday 14 January 2018) officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District were patrolling Horatio Street, Mudgee and stopped a Holden Commodore with three persons on board.

During the vehicle stop, police developed cause to search the vehicle, during which they allegedly located prohibited drugs and items unlawfully obtained.

The occupants exited the vehicle on request, and police conducted a number checks. The passenger, a 36-year-old man ran to the driver’s side door of the vehicle.

As police tried to stop the man, he has allegedly struck the police woman on the hand before driving off, dragging the officer for approximately five metres.

The female officer sustained minor bruising and swelling to her hand.

The male officer sustained an arm injury.

Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District have commenced investigations into incident.

Anyone with information or who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident, is urged to come forward.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
