Post mortem inconclusive on remains of man located in Royal National Park

Police are awaiting further forensic results to confirm the identity of a man whose remains were located in Sydney’s south at the weekend, NSW Police say.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command were called to Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, in the Royal National Park, after human bones were found just after 4.45pm on Saturday (22 September 2018).

A post mortem examination was conducted today (Wednesday 26 September 2018), and determined the remains as a man, but all other tests were inconclusive.

The bones will now be subjected to further forensic examination in order to positively identify the man.

It is expected the investigation will be led by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Police are urging anyone with information that may assist investigators to call Crime Stoppers.
