Post office axe rob charge, NSW

A man is due in court today charged after he allegedly robbed a post office at Chester Hill while armed with an axe, NSW Police say.

Police from Bankstown Local Area Command have been investigating the armed robbery of the business on Waldron Road, Chester Hill, last Friday morning (15 September 2017).

Police will allege a man – armed with an axe – entered the business and threatened staff demanding money. He was given cash and he left the scene in a taxi.

Following investigations, a 47-year-old man was arrested on Cooper Lane, Yagoona, about 4.30pm today.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear in Bankstown Local Court tomorrow.
