Potential disruptionsin Brisbane City and South Brisbane - Tuesday, August 6

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) is advising members of the public intending to travel within central Brisbane tomorrow to consider their transport options with protest action planned during the day.

Information has been received that the protest will be occurring on Tuesday 6 August between 7:00am and 9:00pm and is expected to cause significant disruption to traffic in the Central Business District and South Brisbane.

The QPS continues to undertake significant planning with a variety of stakeholders regarding on-going protest activity by Issue Motivated Groups (IMGs) and individuals regarding proposed mining activity in central Queensland.

Superintendent Chris Stream said police acknowledge the right to lawful and peaceful protest, and the QPS is committed to working with groups that are cooperative and facilitating protest through lawful activities.

"Police and partner agencies are working closely to manage the protest and minimise as much as possible disruptions to transportation networks," Superintendent Stream said.

"We continue to urge protest leaders to engage with police so that we can map out a solution for lawful and peaceful protest activity," he said.

"QPS planning is well-advanced and we continue to review our arrangements to meet the current protest environment."
