Spring has sprung and, whilst it means more leaves on the trees and more flowers in bloom, the changeable weather conditions can present challenges for our mowing team.
Our team are responsible for mowing our parks, bushland and 600 reserves in Knox. The grass maintenance on nature strips and near roads is shared between Knox City Council and VicRoads.
- Council has responsibility for local and non-arterial roads such as Peppermint Grove, Knoxfield or Tyner Road, Wantirna South.

Our team typically and follows a 4 weekly mowing cycle, however, there may be times during spring when mowing is limited or delayed.
If the ground is too wet due to lots of rain it can be unsafe for our mowers and mowing machines to access the areas safely. If surfaces are saturated due to heavy rainfall, it's best to avoid mowing as our machines could cause long term damage and prevent grass regrowth. Sometimes we might only be able to mow some sections of a reserve, rather than the entire area. Our team will plan to return when the ground dries up.
The mixture of sunny and wet weather can cause grass to grow at an accelerated rate. In instances where grass is taller than normal, it can take a bit longer to cut.
