Pregnant woman injured during single-vehicle crash near Glen Innes

Emergency services remain at the scene of a serious single-vehicle crash at Glen Innes this morning.

Just before 3am (Thursday 30 September 2021), officers from New England Police District were called to the Gwydir Highway, about 20km west of Glen Innes, following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The driver – a 25-year-old man – and front passenger – a 25-year-old woman, who is 34 weeks pregnant – sustained injuries.

The pair were both treated at the scene before being taken to Armidale Hospital.

A male passenger in the rear of the vehicle was uninjured.

Local police established a crime scene and will be assisted by the Crash investigation Unit as inquiries commence into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Gwydir Highway is closed in both directions with traffic diversions in place on Dodds Lane and Waterloo Road.
