Students will receive more guidance and support to develop the skills that will prepare them for the jobs of the future.
The Morrison Government today launches its $3 million National Career Education Strategy for schools called Future Ready.
State and territory governments, school systems and schools will be able to assess their existing career education plans against the strategy’s objectives to identify any gaps in their existing programs.
"More than one million jobs have been created under the Coalition Government, and Prime Minister Scott Morrison has pledged to create another 1.25 million jobs," Mr Tehan said.
"To fill these jobs, workers will need to have transferable skills that equip them for success in the modern world.
"To fulfil their ambitions, young people will need to know what to study so they can learn the skills that will be in demand to match their ambitions.
"It’s also essential that students are exposed to how contemporary workplaces operate so they can hit the ground running from day one of any job.
"The Morrison Government is keeping our economy strong and that means more jobs for our children – this strategy will help our children be best-prepared for those jobs."
