A 21-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a prison officer and escaping custody in Hobart this evening.
Tasmania Police received a report a male prisoner had escaped from custody at the Royal Hobart Hospital shortly after 5:15pm on Sunday, 26 April.
Multiple units responded and arrested the man nearby minutes later.
A prison officer received non-life threatening injuries during the incident.
The prisoner is expected to appear in court in Hobart on Monday.
