Private Capital Expenditure Plunge Signals Looming Economic Crisis

Tas Labor

While Treasurer Michael Ferguson does everything he can to pretend otherwise, more evidence has come to light showing Tasmania is heading towards an economic storm under the Rockliff Liberal Government

ABS data released yesterday shows private capital expenditure fell 6.2% over the past year, with Tasmania the only state to go backwards.

Last month we heard from Tasmania's business community that there is an energy crisis in Tasmania that is putting a handbrake on the economy.

These latest figures provide more evidence that a lack of power is stifling business confidence and investment.

After 10 years in government the Liberals have their heads in the sand about Tasmania's economic outlook, with no plans for how the state can weather the economic storm approaching.
