Pro-Islamic State hackers deface Hobart airport website

A group of Pro-Islamic State hackers defaced Hobart International Airport’s website on Sunday morning with "jihadist" messages as part of a series of online attacks around the world.

Tasmania Police say the hacking appears to be "non-discriminate", targeting organisations such as Hobart International Airport, with identical messages posted on websites around the world.  Airport management put the site into maintenance mode soon after police were notified.

Police statement said there were no threats made towards the Hobart airport or flight operations to and from the airport.

"Tasmania Police have been monitoring activity at the airport premises, and there has been no suggestion of targeted activities on-site."

Australia's all airlines including Qantas, Virgin Australia, and Jetstar operate flights to Hobart. Similar defacing attacks have been common by the ISIS supporters since late 2004.

On April 9, France's TV5Monde said its TV station, website and social media accounts were all hacked by a group calling themselves the "CyberCaliphate".
