Probe Ongoing in Possible N. Ryde Kidnap Mix-Up

Police are continuing investigations into a possible mistaken kidnapping of a man from Sydney's northwest yesterday.

Just after 5am on Friday 13 February 2026, officers from Ryde Police Area Command received a report that an 85-year-old man had been kidnapped from his home in North Ryde.

Police attended the location, and shortly after detectives attached to State Crime Command's Robbery & Serious Crime Squad commenced an investigation.

Police consider that the man who was reportedly kidnapped may not have been the intended target and are appealing for his safe return.

Detectives confirm they remain in ongoing communication with the man's family as inquiries continue.

As part of the investigation, police have released an image of the man and are seeking information from the public regarding his whereabouts.
