Provisional Driver Hits 120km/h Over Limit in Leppington

A provisional driver has been charged after he was allegedly caught driving over 200km/h in a 80km/h zone in Sydney's south west overnight.

About 9.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 14 August 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were conducting speed enforcement on Bringelly Road, Leppington, when they have detected a BMW allegedly speeding.

Police stopped the BWM sedan – which was allegedly travelling at 206km/h in a sign posted 8km/h zone – and spoke to the driver.

The provisional driver – a 19-year-old man – was issued a Court Attendance Notice for the offences of P2 Driver exceed speed limit greater than 45km/h – Lidar, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, P2 Driver not display P Plates, and had his licence suspended.

He is set to appear before Picton Local Court on Thursday 11 September 2025.
