Provisional driver suspended, fined after caught doing 174 km/h, NSW

A female P-plater has been suspended from driving and fined after she was allegedly caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 7.20am Tuesday yesterday, Traffic and Highway Patrol officers detected a silver Toyota Aurion travelling at a speed over the 110km/h limit on the Hume Motorway.

The vehicle’s speed was checked at 174km/h and police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 23-year-old female driver of the vehicle.

An alcohol breath test returned a negative result and the driver was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, which carries a penalty of $2306, six demerit points and an automatic licence confiscation and six-month suspension.
