PSPA declared in Surfers Paradise, QLD

Police have declared an emergency situation following an incident early this morning in Surfers Paradise, Queensland Police say.

A declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 2.20am due to a man in an apartment on Ferny Avenue making threats.

Police have blocked the area surrounded by Elkhorn Avenue, Ferny Avenue, Surfers Paradise Boulevard and Cavil Avenue.

People are being asked to avoid the area if they can.
