Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to a building fire in Portsmith (Cairns).
Around 2.25am, police and emergency services were called to a business on Aumuller Street following reports of a fire.
The PSPA was declared just before 2.40am, with the exclusion zone encompassing Ray Jones Drive, Buchan Street to Lyons Street and Aumuller Street, Kenny Street to Tingera Street.
Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors and close their windows until further notice.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and to drive with care.
