Public Intervene To Stop Drug Driver At Kilburn

Members of the public intervened to block a suspected intoxicated driver at Kilburn yesterday morning.

About 10.40am on Thursday 14 May, a man appearing to be under the influence was trying to drive his ride-share car in a shopping centre car park at the intersection of Prospect Road and Grand Junction Road, Kilburn.

Concerned onlookers acted quickly to block the man's car, take his keys and call police.

When traffic officers arrived, they observed the man to be heavily drug affected. He was taken to hospital for a drug analysis blood test.

The 36-year-old eastern suburbs man was reported for driving under the influence and his Toyota sedan was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date and may receive a licence disqualification pending blood test results.

Police praise the efforts of the public who prevented this driver from getting onto the roads.
