Public order incident in Coogee

Police have arrested three people following a public order incident in Coogee last night, NSW Police say.

About 11pm today police were called to a park on Arden Street where two females were reportedly fighting.

On arrival police found the girls involved in a scuffle and as they attempted to break it up they were surrounded by a large group of teens.

One of the officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command was struck in the head by a bottle while attempting to disperse the crowd.

Officers called for urgent assistance and police from neighbouring commands came to assist.

The crowd, estimated at over 50 people, were eventually moved on with officers arresting three males aged 14, 16 and 21. They were taken to Maroubra Police Station where they are expected to be charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest, offensive behaviour and malicious damage.

A number of cars parked in Arden Street sustained damage during the incident.
