Public place shooting - Hunters Hill

An investigation is underway following a public place shooting in Sydney's north west yesterday.

About 7.15pm (Tuesday 27 April 2021), officers from Ryde Police Area Command were called to a home on Gaza Avenue near Barons Crescent, Hunters Hill, after reports shots had been fired.

Police have been told the occupants in the home at the time – a man aged 50 and two women aged 49 and 22 – had just finished dinner when the shots were fired at the front of the home. No injuries were reported.

Upon arrival, police located bullet casings and a vehicle with holes in the driveway. Front windows and an internal wall of the house also sustained damage.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident.

A search of the surrounding area was conducted, with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.

Initial inquiries suggest a male ran from the scene on foot to the intersection of High Street and Gasa Street, where it is believed he may have entered a vehicle.

As inquiries continue, anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or any information that could assist detectives is urged to contact Ryde Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
