Pursuit ends after car hits tree in Fairfield

A man has been charged following a pursuit through Sydney’s west last night, which ended with a car hitting a tree, NSW Police say.

Just after 11.30pm today, officers from Cabramatta Local Area Command attempted to stop a Ford ute on the Cumberland Highway, Fairfield, after they observed the vehicle without headlights on.

It will be alleged the driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, with the vehicle travelling to Maud Street where it hit a tree in the front yard of a home.

The driver and only occupant of the Ford, a 31-year-old man, was taken to Liverpool Hospital to be treated for cuts and bruising and for mandatory testing.

The man was issued a court attendance notice for police pursuit, fail to stop, negligent driving and unlicensed driving (never held a licence).

He will appear at Liverpool Local Court on 5 December 2016.
