QGAir Delivers Precious Cargo to Queensland Families

Queensland Government Air (QGAir) has made a special delivery to families in regional Queensland this week.

Four boxes of Queensland Police Service (QPS) teddy bears were transported to Cairns and Rockhampton, where they will provide comfort and support to victim-survivors of domestic and family violence (DFV).

In moments of crisis, these bears offer a tangible sense of comfort and a reminder that the community and the QPS stand with them.

The teddies, provided by not-for-profit Community Supporting Police, were safely transported by making use of available space on essential operational flights.

It comes ahead of DFV Prevention Month in Queensland from 1-31 May.

This year's theme is "Together Queenslanders can prevent domestic and family violence".

The delivery is one of the many ways QPS provides support to every corner of Queensland, from the hangar to the home.

QGAir delivers government aviation services to Queensland by providing essential, lifesaving and emergency aviation support to its partner agencies.

Along with POLAIR, QGAir is part of the QPS Aviation Capability Group, which provides frontline aeromedical research, search and rescue operations, law enforcement and government aviation capabilities across the state.

The QGAir fleet is Australia's first and most experienced Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operator, beginning operations in 1981 and now operating out of bases in Brisbane, Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa, and Horn Island.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic and family violence, report it to police at www.police.qld.gov.au/domestic-violence and reach out to support services.

If domestic violence is occurring now and someone is in immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).

For all other DFV-related matters, phone police on 131 444, 24 hours, 7 days a week.
