Qld COVID-19 - Wed May 13: Hospitality flows and beauty glows

Licensed hospitality is ready to flow, and professional beauty services are ready to glow this weekend, with the number of active COVID-19 cases in Queensland still below 20.

There are now 18 active cases, 1028 recovered and six deaths for a total of 1052.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the continued positive news about case numbers was a good lead up to the first stage of easing restrictions from Saturday, when up to ten patrons at a time may dine in at restaurants, pubs, clubs, RSLs and cafes.

"And in the outback, they will be able to have 20 patrons in pubs, cafes and restaurants being able to enjoy a meal with a beer or a glass of wine.

"I really want to thank XXXX because they're delivering the liquid gold - the XXXX Gold."

XXXX is trucking a free keg to pubs and clubs re-opening this weekend in Roma, Barcaldine, Ilfracombe, Longreach, Dulacca, Yuleba, Wallumbilla, Mungallala and Blackall.

Another part of the gradual reopening of business this weekend is beauty services.

From this Saturday, nail and beauty salons can open for a maximum of 10 clients and of course the hairdressing salons have been open prior to that," the Premier said.

"So beauty therapy services include waxing, laser treatments, manicures, pedicures, nail painting, eyelash extensions, facials, cosmetic injections can go ahead.

"The Chief Health Officer will be putting out a full list, and in the following month there will be added spray tanning, saunas and other water-based spa services.

"They must have a COVID-safe plan in place, they must operate by appointment only and they must keep a register of clients to assist in contact tracing."
